Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
A Time of Opportunities and Possibilities
Oregon has a historic opportunity to build the schools our students deserve. The passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act in December 2015 returns decision making about schools, education and learning back to where it belongs — in the hands of the teachers, students, families, and communities our schools serve.
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) ends the era of one-size-fits-all approaches to testing, teaching, and school improvement that were the hallmark of No Child Left Behind. Now is the time to seize this opportunity and reshape Oregon’s schools so all students, regardless of zip code, have the supports, tools, and time to learn that they need to succeed.
