More than 300 member-delegates will gather to recommend candidates for statewide and federal offices. OEA is unique among labor unions in having its recommendations result from such an open, broadly democratic process.
The Convention is filled with activities, candidate speeches, question & answer sessions, caucuses, and floor debates. 2012 will mark the 34th year of the OEA-PIE Convention and many original attendees of the original 1978 Convention are expected to participate as active delegates.
Among the candidate recommendations to be determined at the OEA-PIE Convention:
FEDERAL
- U.S. House of Representative (all five districts)
STATEWIDE
- Oregon Secretary of State
- Oregon State Treasurer
- Oregon Attorney General
- Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor and Industries

How Does OEA Make Recommendations?
OEA members who belong to our political action committee People for the Improvement of Education (OEA-PIE) decide all federal, statewide, and local recommendations based on pro-education criteria and extensive candidate interviews. Read more about OEA-PIE.
