Why Vote? An OEA Member's Answers
OEA member Reed Scott-Schwalbach in an email to friends & colleagues: "Public funding, and those who decide where it goes, directly impacts how many students I have (200 this year) and who I work with (a woman I worked with for 6 years lost her job in this year's cuts. We no longer have a single female PE teacher for our 1,900 students)." Read more.

71

Amends Constitution: Requires legislature to meet annually; limits length of legislative sessions; provides exceptions (Referral from the Oregon Legislature). This measure will help the legislature react faster to the needs of public education and other vital services in times of crises.

72

Amends Constitution: Authorizes exception to $50,000 state borrowing limit for state’s real and personal property projects (Referral from the Oregon Legislature). This measure gives the state the ability to borrow money at the lowest interest rate possible, helping to stabilize our state budget.

Support

73

Requires increased minimum sentences for certain repeated sex crimes, incarceration for repeated driving under the influence. This measure takes money away from critical treatment and court supervision of criminal offenders, and also takes millions of dollars away from our public schools.

of marijuana.
This measure does not fall under OEA’s Measure Up criteria.
