OEA Members: Stipends Offered for Published Submissions
OEA members are encouraged to write about their experiences and insights as educators in Oregon public schools for publication in Today's OEA and on OEA's web site, www.oregoned.org.

These member-authored "Perspective" essays should focus on successes and challenges with students, joys and frustrations of the teaching/education profession, classroom discoveries and surprises, on-the-job innovations, rewards and disappointments, humorous experiences, survival tips, union involvement, and any other insights the authors can provide about working in today's schools and community colleges.

We are looking for a word length of 700 to 1400 words. If your essay is selected for publication in Today's OEA and on OEA's web site, you will receive a $200 stipend. If selected for publication online only, you will receive a $150 stipend.

If you have an idea for a "Perspective" essay or a series of essays in a column format, you may contact Today's OEA Editor Meg Krugel to discuss in advance of writing. Proposals for a regular series of columns will also be considered. All submissions will be accepted for review; however OEA does no guarantee publication. Stipends will only be paid for published submissions. All submissions are subject to editing prior to publication and reasonable revisions may be requested of the author.
