Parents & Community

The members of the Oregon Education Association are teachers, education support professionals, and faculty working in Oregon's preK-12 public schools and community colleges. We welcome your involvement in our classrooms, and look forward to partnering with you in your child's education.

Parent Guides
Wondering what you can do to raise a successful reader? Looking for a list of teachers' recommended books? Not quite sure how to help your child learn today's Math? Check out our parent guides for tips and resources.

Online Resources for Parents
If you're looking to take a more active role in your child's education, contact your child's teacher and discuss how you can support your child's learning in and out of the classroom. Find out if your child's school has a parent volunteer coordinator and speak with that person about volunteer opportunities. In addition, these parent resources may be helpful.

Parent Training Workshops

Hate-Free Community Resources
Oregon communities working to protect children and schools from hate-based activities will find these resources helpful.

Reading Resources
Reading is a fundamental skill that will help your child succeed in school and in life. Closing the achievement gap requires, among other things, ensuring a sound foundation in reading for all students. That's why reading has become a focus across the curriculum in many Oregon schools. As parents, you play a key role in helping your child learn how to read. Check out these online reading resources for assistance and information.
