Why Should Oregonians Oppose Ballot Measure 62? It Diverts Lottery Funds Away From Schools
Measure 62 amends the constitution to take money away from our schools. This is money that voters have dedicated to managing class sizes, buying textbooks and computers, and hiring teachers. Now is not the time to be cutting school funding. If this measure were in effect now, it would take $175 million out of the State School Fund.

Measure 62 also takes money from economic development programs dedicated to job creation. Now more than ever, Oregon needs the tools to compete in the new world economy. Measure 62 hurts our state’s ability to secure good paying jobs for working Oregonians.

Measure 62 has too many unintended consequences. With countries like China and India graduating more engineering and science students than the U.S., taking needed money away from our schools and from job programs is just not worth the cost.
