Why Should Oregonians Oppose Ballot Measure 59: Sizemore's Latest Tax Scheme?
Measure 59 has serious unintended consequences and does nothing to help working Oregonians or make government more accountable.
Measure 59 benefits only those who make more than $200,000 a year.
Tax experts say that more than 75 percent of Oregonians won’t even save a dollar. Further, it could end up costing all Oregonians more, as hidden fees and new taxes replace the billions cut from the budget.
Measure 59 would cut up to $2.4 billion right out of funding for education, health care, and public safety. Low‐income families, kids and seniors will be the hardest hit by these budget cuts. State estimates show that funding for core services would be reduced by $1.3 billion in the 2009‐2011 biennium and $2.4 billion in each subsequent biennium.
Measure 59 is a bad Sizemore rerun.
Oregonians have said no to this measure twice before, yet racketeer Bill Sizemore doesn’t get the message. Sizemore funds his attacks on working Oregonians with millions of dollars from Nevada tycoon Loren Parks.
